Dining, Shopping & Entertainment

Lake Tahoe is renowned for its collection of upscale eateries — and Glenbrook residents have access to many of them. Chart House in nearby Stateline (less than 10 miles away) is one example from a pool of many. This opulent restaurant presents outstanding views and world-class cuisine in equal measure. Here, you can ease into a romantic evening with an heirloom bruschetta board with whipped herb ricotta and caramelized shallots, savor a steaming bowl of clam chowder, share a plate of seared citrus cream salmon, and top it all off with a slice of key lime pie.

Gar Woods Grill & Pier is a well-adored waterfront restaurant serving Californian fare and breath-taking views of Lake Tahoe. With floor-to-ceiling windows, outdoor deck and a long, romantic pier, the atmosphere of this establishment is delightful. Kick back with one of their fruity rum cocktails in a serene lakeside space.

Meanwhile, a special occasion calls for a reservation at the legendary Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen Lake Tahoe, a vibrant hotspot that showcases the famous chef’s inventive gastronomical flair. After a memorable meal, you can meander through the casino at Harveys Lake Tahoe, which is always abuzz with excitement and activity. And when you’re in the mood for an unforgettable meal, aim to get a seat at the famous Wolfdale’s Cuisine Unique, an iconic Lake Tahoe staple that has been thrilling guests with its California-inspired cuisine for more than 43 years.

Things to Do

Glenbrook residents may enjoy a respite from the buzziness that defines Stateline, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have abundant, joyous activities within reach.

One of the choicest ways to appreciate the beauty of the lake is aboard a sightseeing cruise of the glorious Emerald Bay, a pocket of Tahoe that’s regarded as one of the ten most photographed sites on the planet. Lake Tahoe Bleu Wave is the vessel to go with. The tour company is known for its impeccable service.

To experience more of Lake Tahoe’s signature, stunning beauty, head to Sand Harbor in the always-lovely Incline Village; the beach abounds with water activities. Your skiing and snowboarding wishes will be more than fulfilled at Heavenly Mountain Resort, while mountain bikers will be thrilled with all that Castle Rock Trailhead has to offer.

Glenbrook is a gated community adjacent to Uppaway Estates. In 1860, Captain Augustus Pray and associates settled in Glenbrook. They built a cabin, harvested wild hay, planted grain and vegetables. They were known to have harvested 60 bushels of wheat and 4 tons of hay per acre, while oats grew 7-8 feet high.. Only 150 acres of Glenbrook’s 750 acres have been developed. Nearly 600 acres remain undisturbed, offering homeowners serenity as well as unique recreational opportunities.

Uppaway Estates is a small private gated community of homes that are located on the former Fleishman Estate. The 44 acre lakefront property was purchased by Major Max C. Fleishman in the early 1930’s and served as his home for many years. Located on the East shore (Nevada Side) of Lake Tahoe, Uppaway enjoys a mild winter climate that locals refer to as the “banana belt.” In addition to magnificent sunsets year around, the location is the perfect vantage point to watch winter storms roll across the lake. Lake access for boating, swimming, kayaking, or stand-up paddle boarding is only a short walk or golf cart ride from anywhere in the community. No need to pack the car and drive when you want to enjoy Lake Tahoe water activities. The community also has private tennis and horseshoe courts for residents.
