North Upper Truckee

 

The North Upper Truckee neighborhoods stand out as one of South Lake Tahoe’s finest areas due to balanced demographics of second home ownership, retirees and local professionals. This well kept and lush area is desirable to Lake Tahoe vacationers and second home homeowners “In The Know” because of the proximity to hundreds of square miles of National Forest, Echo Lake and Desolation Wilderness, Fallen Leaf Lake and South Lake Tahoe’s world famous beaches.

 

Another popular neighborhood in South Lake Tahoe is North Upper Truckee. This is a county area located between the Y Area and Meyers. Many primary residents live in this area due to its quiet, yet central location and good schools nearby.

 

North Upper Truckee residents have an abundance of recreational opportunities minutes from their homes which include world class fly fishing in the Upper Truckee River and 10 minutes over Luther Pass the West and East Fork of the Carson River. A myriad of high elevation alpine lakes are within a short drive from the North Upper Truckee neighborhoods as well and include Caples, Red, Blue, Kirkwood, Echo, Fallen Leaf and of course Lake Tahoe.

 

Winter finds a quiet serenity shrouding the entire area interrupted only by the hissing of ski’s or snowshoes gliding through a mountain meadow or possibly the far away sounds of backcountry avalanches. Within a short drive from the North Upper Truckee neighborhoods lies the skiing and riding Mecca’s of Heavenly Mountain Resort, Sierra at Tahoe and Kirkwood Mountain Resort. All three of these world class winter destinations afford the best in winter recreation and are one of the major reasons many find the North Upper Truckee area one of the best for overall proximity to these resorts.

 

When it comes to living, working and playing at Lake Tahoe many find the natural ambience of the North Upper Truckee neighborhoods to fit the bill perfectly. With home values ranging from the mid 200’s and ranging as high as just under 3.0 million it is a diverse and esoteric real estate market. Values tend to be higher for properties which enhanced by mountain or lake views as well as those backing National Forest or California Conservancy land. On the other hand there are many smaller single-family homes that are currently as low as the mid 300’s and many larger family homes available under $500,000.
